Not only this single, but each song from this album speaks about issues that plague society. Logic describes the song as someone calling the hotline and that they want to commit suicide. This single is titled after the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline phone number. From the album, the single “1-80” went triple platinum. The album debuted at the #1 spot on the US Billboard 200 as well as selling over 200,000 copies. Logic talked about how he originally titled the album AfricAryaN, due to “being black and white, and seeing life from two sides.” In this album, he speaks about “everybody’s struggles,” such as issues and topics including depression, suicide, mental health, violence, racism, drug abuse, and religion. In 2017, Logic announced his third studio album, Everybody. In the following year, Logic released, Bobby Tarantino, which was his newest mixtape since his Young Sinatra trilogy in 2013. In November of 2015, Logic released the second album, The Incredible True Story, which debuted at the #1 spot on the Billboard Top Hip-Hop/R&B Chart as well as debuting at #3 on the Billboard 200. This album was described as a “motion picture sci-fi epic”, with it taking place in the future as the main characters are traveling to a new planet while playing Logic’s new album. Just after a couple of months following his first album, Logic had already announced that he would be releasing his second album in the fall of 2015. His first studio album was a great success selling over 75,000 copies on the very first week as well as being #2 on the Billboard Top Hip-Hop/R&B Chart. In April of 2013, Logic announced that he signed with Def Jam Recordings and with help of No I.D., a producer of Def Jam, Logic released his first studio album, Under Pressure, in 2014. In just a few years, Logic’s fanbase had grown immensely and he was climbing the hip-hop success ladder with four well-received mixtapes. In the following year, he finished the Young Sinatra trilogy by releasing the third and final mixtape Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever as well as going on his second national tour, the Welcome to Forever Tour. His second mixtape was received extremely well and with the great success of his first two mixtapes he released part two of the Young Sinatra trilogy, Young Sinatra: Undeniable in 2012. In 2009, was when Logic first began performing under his former stage name “Psychological.” He later released an unofficial mixtape which caught the attention of big names such as Ludacris, Pit Bull, and Method Man and he served as opening acts for these artists. Despite all these external influences, Logic says, “…I didn’t let it pull me down.” However, this instability also affected his education and he ultimately dropped out of high school and soon after he began focusing on his rap career.
